Business Attraction--IWT Chooses Northwest Kentucky

Governor Steve Beshear joined local officials to announce that Innovative Workflow Technologies (IWT) would be locating its new $2 million software development and data center, as well as its corporate headquarters, in Henderson. The company anticipates having 40–50 jobs at the site within a few years with wages between $60–80,000/year.
IWT develops technology for the health care industry that collects and integrates data in order to provide our clients with software solutions that improve communication, efficiency, and patient safety. Their products interface with software from different vendors to consolidate information and generate powerful new functionality.
NWKF helped IWT received nearly $1 million in incentives to make the Henderson location a reality.
Business Retention— Community Stalwart to Expand

Brenntag Mid-South, a major existing employer in Northwest Kentucky, recently announced plans to expand its Henderson complex.
The company has started work on a 27,000 sq. ft. expansion that will allow the company to better handle existing activity and planned future growth. The $1.6 million investment will also allow the company to add additional jobs to its more than 200-person workforce.
Brenntag has been a part of the local community since the facility’s inception more than 60-years ago as PB&S Chemical. Today, the complex includes not only chemical blending and distribution, but also serves as Brenntag Mid-South’s corporate headquarters.
Business Development--Entrepreneurship is Thriving in Northwest Kentucky
In the last fiscal year (1 July 08–30 June 09) NWKF’s entrepreneurship effort met with 198 entrepreneurs!! While some of these were existing entrepreneurs, many were would be business owners. These clients produced the following results during the fiscal year:
- 198 Clients
- 16 micro loans
- 3 jump start loans
- 35 new start up businesses
- 75 new jobs created through counseling and loans
- 17 retention jobs through counseling and loans
Education & Workforce Development— Colonels 2 College Program Grows Out of Rally
The new Colonels 2 College program is set to begin this year. A local community initiative growing out of NWKF’s Rally for Education Excellence initiative, Colonels 2 College will offer qualifying graduates from Henderson County High School $1000/semester scholarships to Henderson Community College.
The program will begin when this year’s freshmen class graduates in 2013. More information on the program can be found at http://www.northwestky.com.
