Come home to NorthwestKYWorks!

Northwest Kentucky Forward and Henderson Community College rolled out www.northwestkyworks.com this past month.  A regional database of human capital, this FREE website enables employers to search the labor market for job seekers with the skills for which they are looking.  Job seekers can register for free, but they must have either WorkKey scores or a minimum of an Associate’s degree or a journeyman’s certificate.  Job seekers can register regardless of where they live, but only employers in the region may register.

This is a great resource for individuals who may have grown up in the area but now live away and want to come home.  The website is funded through a grant provided by the West Kentucky Regional Industrial Development Authority.

Powering Up for New Opportunities

NWKF and the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corp. have partnered together on a new initiative—Northwest Kentucky: A Center for Green Innovation.  The two organizations are going to partner together to market the 6-county region and its unique assets for alternative energy and plant-based life sciences.  Few areas in the worlds are better suited for projects in either field with the region’s mix of natural resources, intellectual capital, and location.  For more than a century, agriculture and coal fueled this region’s economy and thanks to technology, it can do so again.  Learn more at www.northwestkentuckygreen.com.

Timewell Finds the Time is Right in Northwest KY

Northwest Kentucky Forward joined with Timewell Tile officials to announce that the company was purchasing a building in Providence and would be opening a new manufacturing facility.  The company will be creating 50 jobs.  The company is a HDPE plastic extrusion company that produces drainage tile for the agricultural market and MaXflo smooth wall pipe for the commercial markets.

Growing New Businesses in Northwest Kentucky

C&C Roofing is a new company that has started up in Morganfield.  C&C is a great example of partnerships.  The company owners, Scott and Shannon Clements, worked with Community Ventures Corp (which shares an office with NWKF and serves as the area’s entrepreneurship center) on the business plan.  CVC helped them partner with the Union County Industrial Development Authority on low interest loan backed by SBA.  NWKF assisted the company in attaining tax credits from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.  The company hopes to hire 20 people in the near future.

The CVC Northwest office in funded through a grant secured through the Governor’s Office for Local Development in partnership with Henderson County and Union County Fiscal Courts.
