Existing Business Visits:

Forty-two visits have been made to existing businesses in our four county region during the first quarter of the fiscal year (July 1st to September 30th).  Out of the 42 businesses visited, 2 businesses submitted applications for KIDA tax incentives for expansions.

Expansions:

Matrix Composites, Inc. expansion has been approved by the KEDFA Board for $150,000 in tax incentives under the KIDA program.  Matrix is a privately owned Henderson business that manufactures woven and knitted fiberglass.  They have been in their present location for eleven years and produce one million pounds of fiberglass per month.  With the KIDA approval, Matrix will add a minimum of 15 jobs and expand their manufacturing facility.

Hercules Manufacturing Co., another Henderson business, has also been approved by the KEDFA Board for $800,000 in tax incentives under the KIDA program for their upcoming expansion.  Hercules manufactures insulated and dry freight van bodies and trailers and has been in the Henderson area for fifty years.  Hercules plans to add 50 new jobs once their expansion is complete.

Use of Training Grants on the Rise

During the first quarter of our fiscal year (July-September), nearly $84,000 was approved by the Bluegrass State Skills Corporation for the “Grant-In-Aid” program and the “Skills Training Investment Credit”.  Henderson Community College also approved over $285,000 under the WINS grant program during the six month period of March, 2007 through September, 2007.
Please contact us if you would like information on these training grants for your business.

Job Quest is October 24th!

The 3rd annual Job Quest has been expanded to cover Henderson, McLean, Union and Webster counties, as well as the Evansville and Owensboro areas.  Job Quest will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center on the Henderson Community College campus.  Employers will have a booth to take applications, an interview room for on-site interviews and computers available for applicants to apply on line.  Lunch will be provided to company representatives manning the booths. For more information and to register for a booth, please contact Mary Jo Applin, (270) 831-9662 or (270) 831-9666.

If You Are Looking For Employees - Get Connected!

NWKF is partnering with the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Council to provide job seekers and employers a new online database to find one another.  Job seekers can register for free with either an Associate’s degree or higher or WorkKeys scores.  Employers can then search, for free, for potential employees based on a number of criteria.  Look for more information coming soon on NorthwestKyWorks.com!

2007 Wage and Benefit Survey

For the second year, Northwest Kentucky Forward will be sending out our regional “Wage and Benefit Survey”, an E-survey, to Human Resource personnel. Company responses will only take 8-10 minutes to complete.  The results will be calculated and available online toward the end of December.

KEDFA Small Business Loan Program
