Parkways soon to be FREEways

Effective November 22nd, the tolls are coming off of the Audubon and Natcher Parkways.  Governor Ernie Fletcher made the announcement on September 28.  The November 22nd date is approximately seven months ahead of the planned date. According to Fletcher, “By removing the tolls we are clearing a path for new jobs and economic opportunities throughout this entire region.”

Wage & Benefit Survey coming soon

As promised, look for a regional Wage & Benefit Survey coming soon to an email inbox near you.  We have been working with the survey format, and recently asked the Henderson HR Council to provide their thoughts and input.  We are implementing their feedback and you should be receiving an E-Survey in the near future.

Tax Credits are for you too!

Many of you have asked if there are any incentive programs available to existing companies.  The answer is a resounding “YES!”  Virtually any program available to a new company locating in the area is available to existing companies who meet the same requirements.  Each newsletter will highlight one of these programs.

The newest incentive program is the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act (KEIA or “key-a” in economic development speak).  This program allows a company to receive a refund of sales and use taxes paid for construction materials and building fixtures and for equipment used in research and development.  It requires a minimum investment of $500,000.  This program can be used in conjunction with other incentive programs. The great news is we pay your application fee!

Remember, all of Kentucky’s incentive programs require that you receive approval BEFORE you begin your project to be eligible.

Canoe Creek

Recently, NWKF hosted a lunch discussion with businesses in the 5th Street area and local, state and federal officials regarding Canoe Creek.  We believe that this was a productive meeting and laid out a course of action for everyone involved.  While NWKF cannot solve the flooding issue, we can advocate and facilitate on behalf of our companies. We are committed to working with the Task Force to see that your concerns are not forgotten.
