Continuing Education Important for HR Professionals

The first HR continuing Education Seminar was held on December 18th at NWKF. The seminar was free of charge for HR professionals in Henderson, Union, Webster and McLean Counties. K. T. Williams and Elizabeth Bird, attorneys with the law firm of Stoll Keenon & Ogden in Henderson, provided information on legal aspects of interviewing and handbooks to avoid discrimination and harassment charges. Thomas Williams, attorney with Stoll Keenon & Ogden, Louisville office, presented legal information on documenting performance issues to avoid employment litigation.

Another education seminar will be held this spring.

Congratulations!

Shamrock Technologies, Henderson, has recently received approval for tax incentives/credits from Frankfort for their planned expansion. Several other existing businesses are in the process of completing the necessary paperwork to apply for tax credits/incentives on future expansions. To assist our existing businesses, Northwest KY Forward pays the application fee.

Incentives for you and we are not KIDAing.

This issue’s incentive spotlight is on the Kentucky Industrial Development Act or KIDA (kid-ah). This incentive program allows a business entity that establishes new manufacturing plants or expands existing manufacturing operations, up to a 100 percent credit against the Kentucky income tax liability generated by the project OR to utilize a 3 percent Job Development Assessment Fee (JDAF) on the new jobs created by the project. To be eligible, the project must involve a minimum investment of $100,000 and create at least 15 new, full-time jobs for persons subject to Kentucky income tax. This program can be used in conjunction with other programs like KEIA.

Remember: Kentucky’s incentive programs require that you receive approval BEFORE you begin your project! And, like other programs, we pick up the application fee for our existing companies that apply.
